We are recruiting for one of our clients who is a biotechnology company focusing on neuromuscular disorders and on disorders affecting muscle health in general such as muscle atrophy and metabolic disorders. The Company has developed MyoScreen™, a patient-derived skeletal muscle in vitro R&D platform from which it models diseases, identifies drug targets and candidates, develops cell-based assays, and screens with a high-content focus. MyoScreen is accessible through R&D partnerships.

The company is developing its business development activity to support its market reach and establish additional R&D partnerships.


The candidate will be the manager of New Business Opportunities from prospection to deal closing and transaction management, including first introductions and presentations, CDA setup, budget proposal, and contract negotiation.

  • Collaborate with the company Operation Team Leaders to acquire new business via calls, video conferencing, and in-person sessions in a highly consultative sales process.
  • Define strategic and tactical plans to foster R&D partnering and build engagements, aligned to partners’ needs and the company’s business models.
  • Navigate partners’ goals, constraints, and the company’s resourcing and delivery standards in collaboration with cross-functional R&D teams to create relevant research proposals, budgets, and project plans that set the company and its partners up for success.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and clear written documentation for deals and leads. Feed and maintain the company’s customer database (CRM) and internal databases.
  • Develop and cultivate new leads through networking, relationship development, and investigation, as well as by expanding key accounts identified as growth opportunities in close partnership with an account manager.
  • Conduct contract negotiations and secure terms in line with our business objectives.
  • Coordinate the drafting, review, and finalization of contracts, confidentiality agreements, and annexes required for projects.
  • Work hand in hand with the Innovation Director to stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape to capitalize on emerging opportunities and mitigate potential threats.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on prospection and presales performance, and market trends to senior management.


  • Master’s degree in business administration or related field.
  • Master’s or engineer degree in biological sciences or related field would be a plus.
  • From 5 to 10 years of proven track record of success in business development and sales within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • You have a high level of understanding of the innovation ecosystem and are able to guide strategy conversations with C-level R&D managers and business developers, conveying expertise to partners who may have some expertise themselves. You are able to offer consultative solutions to a variety of challenges that (1) are not always well defined by a prospect, and (2) vary greatly between opportunities.
  • You excel at channeling independent motivation while collaborating in a team environment. You thrive with a level of autonomy and trust and are not dependent on highly prescribed sales processes to succeed and grow.
  • Your strong time management and follow-through give you the ability to balance and prioritize multiple opportunities and leads.
  • You have an appreciation for design and attention to detail: modeling the company’s know-how by ensuring proposals, pitches, presentations, and other materials are well composed, constructed, and free from obvious omissions and errors.
  • You possess superior, persuasive written and verbal English communication skills in a remote and in-person (« pitch ») setting and excel at rallying internal and external collaborators to a project vision.
  • You have good practice of legal processes (confidentiality agreements, term sheets, R&D contracts, and license agreements).
  • Approximately 30% overnight travel required, including overseas (plus regular visits to the company headquarters in Meylan).
